Course Curriculum

10

  • Difficulty- depends on the courses you select for yourself, you have the complete freedom to choose whatever courses you like from a course list where you have to select 6 courses based on your specialization and rest you are free to select from any other discipline.
  • Most Positive- You can have fun during the course due most of the evaluation being either a project, Written exam, oral exam, research/review paper writing.
  • Most negative- Some courses can be a repetition from other courses (Depends on the courses you select)

Admission Experience

  • For Each course I have applied around/over 30 Universities, I got accepted for 85% of the Universities
  • Some of the Universities- Cranfield University, University of Glasgow, Queen Mary University Of London, University of Twente, Technical University of Eindhoven, University of Bath, University of Birmingham, University of Sussex etc.
  • All of the mentioned above universities accepted my application
  • I received only few rejections such as Middlesex University, University of Salford, University of Sheffield,  University of Hertfordshire etc.
  • I got rejection due to the sole reason that I wanted to pursue another type of course where I did not have the background knowledge for.
  • I chose University of Twente, considering the factors of University Fee, Language Barriers and Opportunities.
  • The Admission Process was really simple as the University helps out once you get accepted. The steps involved were:
    1. Acceptance from University
    2. Visa will be taken care by the University
    3. Make sure to show your financial status/documents to show you can study at the University
    4. Arrange your payment method to pay the University fee
    5. That's It !
  • Eligibility Criteria:
    1. IELTS 6.5 band in all the different parts
    2. Good Motivation Letter
    3. CV with diverse activities (Both academic, non-academic, skills etc.)
  • Admission Experience: Highly easy, make sure to have all the documents ready in time.
*September Intake, it was as soon as I finished my Bachelors and that was the closest intake available.
*Admission process takes around 3-4 months and also depends on the University applied
*Takes about one month to collect all the required Documents and initial application submission
*Takes about another month for the application and document verification process by the university
*In the third month you get acceptance/rejection,
*If you get accepted your admission in the University is protected for a particular time window under which you have to accept the admission  and then you pay the visa application fee based on the decision given by the University and go to the embassy and you will be interviewed. Interview is pretty easy, no difficult questions will be asked.

Class Schedule

10

  •  Number of classes can be from none to three per day and not necessarily you will have the class every week.
  • Usual timings, all the classes are scheduled between 8:45 AM to 5:30 PM.
  • There are no fixed people in a class, Number of students can range between anywhere from 3 people to 50 people to 100 people (Depends on the courses you select also depends whether other people select the same course)
  • I believe somewhere between 5-10 people, but a lot of Indian Students are there in Other Engineering Branches

Faculty

10

  • Depending on the courses you select also depends whether other people select the same course. Ratio Of faculty-to-student does not affect the teaching methods. All students are given equal importance.
  • Depends on the courses taken, but mainly you have theoretical and practical classes. Just the course content is not enough to prepare you for the job market. You need practical experience which you might gain through your internship here which is mandatory.
  • Faculty members can extend your network but they can not assist you in finding jobs. It is your own responsibility if you need a part time job.
  • I admire my Professors from the Department of STT, they were helpful in extending my network with professionals that helped me secure an internship and also a Thesis project with a company.

Campus Life

10

  • The University has only One campus (Enschede, The Netherlands)
  • There are more than 100 plus sports facilities available, each sport has their own club, there a huge library where you can borrow textbooks, working material etc. there are also study spaces, you can book a room for free for studying. As for Medical services there is a hospital and a dentist on campus in case of emergencies.
  • Kick-in festival (two times a year)(Depends if the University has budget) , Kings Day, Business Days (Companies from all over the country come and setup a stall to display their projects, also helpful to grow your network)
  • A lot of student organizations are available. depending on the Engineering branch they each have a study association and they provide information such as previous year Question papers or study material apart from this they offer free Coffee and Tea and occasionally free fruits. As for the sports clubs each sport have their own club they post the training times on their own websites.
  • NOTE: To access all the above you need a student card (Student ID card given by the University) and a yearly subscription

Part Time Jobs

  • Recently due to Budget constraints of the University there are no more TA or any other similar positions available
  • If they were to comeback an hourly rate of between 20-25 euros per hour.
  • Other jobs include being an supporting instructor for a sport club, not sure how much you get paid.
  • You are allowed to work 16 hours per week ,as there are no more jobs  you can not get any
  • 18-25 euros per hour
  • It is very difficult to get a part time job as all of the stores prefer a local or a person who knows Dutch in this case.
  • I do not do a part time job nor I have searched for one therefore I can not comment on it. In case of internships it took me 6 months to find one, therefore a suggestion here is that look for internships as soon as you arrive in the country.

Placement

6

  • I believe there is a 60% chance to get a job, as per my knowledge there is a workforce shortage in the country. But it is impossible to tell.
  • The average salary of a Master Graduate can be around 35-45k a year.
  • Most of the people get their jobs through Networking, which is key to obtain a job.
  • Most of my Friends have not yet graduated therefore I can not provide any information. From others I have heard that you need a referral from a person within the company to get into that particular company.
  • VDL, ASML, Apollo, HOST

Accommodation

Off Campus
10

  • For the first year the University guarantees accommodation on Campus, they have a separate website for it. After one year you are supposed to find your own accommodation elsewhere, which can be through online platforms, real estate agents.
  • Current rent is (500, 400 rent and 100 for utilities (GWE and Internet))
  • Challenges: You have to decide whether you want a private room for yourself or you want to stay with a group of friends. Staying alone will rise up your living costs significantly (Just the rent might be alone a 1000 Euros excluding utilities such as Gas(G) water(W) and Electricity(E) and Internet)
  • It takes about 6 months to one year to find a proper accommodation. so start searching for accommodation as soon as you are in your first house
  • I live about 5  km away from the University Campus, most of the Indian Students live in the near by cities which are just 5 km away from the Campus

Exams

  • Only IELTS is required and 6,5 band overall and above 6 individually, but also other exams are accepted.
  • Documents: LOR, SOP, CV, Motivation Letter, Financial Situation/ proof, Payment methods, A guarantee letter of payment from Parents if parents are going to pay the fee and also support your living expenses,
  • There was No interview process to my current university

Fees

  • Fee increment every 6 months (250 Euros)
  • Just Tuition fee (17000 Euros per Year) (Charged Yearly/ can also be paid in Installments)
  • Living Expenses (1000 Euros Per Month- Includes rent(400-500 Euros) , utilities(100-150 Euros) , groceries(100-200 Euros) and miscellaneous (100 Euros))
  • Transportation- Nil, depends on where you live on the other hand transportation is very expensive.

Scholarship

  • No scholarship received
  • Scholarship are applicable based on the country you are from
  • Typical scholarship consists of 5000 Euros yearly
  • Can get full scholarship but depends on previous academic performance and also depends on the person's country of origin.
  • General requirements- GPA of more than 9 out of 10, and good motivation letter
  • On average only 15-20 Students receive and they can get further scholarship when they maintain a high GPA after getting admitted in the following years
