  • This provides students with invaluable research experience that helps them engage with their courses and prepare for future careers or graduate studies. Nipissing Universities' relatively small size provides a huge advantage for students in terms of increased opportunities to get involved while not sacrificing on course offerings. The Psychology Department offers a full slate of courses that cover all major areas of the discipline.
  • BA students will take humanities and social science elective courses (e.g., English, Philosophy, Criminal Justice, Sociology, and History). The BA program offers a Certificate in Early Intensive Behaviour Intervention – Autism Spectrum Disorder.​

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

Academic Eligibility:

  • Official transcripts from all institutions (domestic or international) previously or presently attended, secondary schools, colleges, and universities (Domestic and international applicants who have attended postsecondary institutions outside of North America must have their transcripts assessed (Credential Evaluation Report, including a Course-By-Course Analysis) by World Education Services.
  • Completion of an International Baccalaureate (IB) diploma with a minimum score of 5 or better in HL or SL English A: Literature or HL or SL English A: Language and Literature. 
  • Graduate from a regionally accredited US secondary school and achieve a minimum score of 4 or better in Advanced Placement (AP) English Language & Composition or English Literature & Composition.
  • Achieve a minimum grade of B in GCSE, IGCSE, or GCE Ordinary Level English Literature or English Language, a minimum grade of C in GCE A Level or AS Level or AICE or CAPE English or English Language, or a minimum score of M3 in Cambridge Pre-U English.

Indian Eligibility:

Indian students are eligible to apply if they meet one of the following eligibility criteria:

  • Achieve a minimum score of 75% or better in the All India Senior Secondary School Certificate (ISSC) Core or Functional English or the Indian School Certificate (ISC) English, issued by the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE). 

Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.

Honours psychology graduates have a very high rate of acceptance into excellent national and international graduate programs due to the extensive research experience gained as a undergraduates at Nipissing. Many other graduates have continued on to successful careers in counselling, social work, education, speech pathology, medicine, law, journalism, human resources, public relations, research and clinical psychology
