Tips and Checklist for Trent University Durham GTA Admissions
The following tips and steps are drawn from Indian-applicant patterns at Trent Durham. Use them alongside the sections above to sequence your file from Class 12 results to arrival in Oshawa.
- Target Fall for the widest program choice, since Winter and Summer at Durham carry narrower UG availability.
- Aim for 85%+ in Class 12 to auto-unlock a CAD 2,500-5,500 (₹1.71-3.75 Lakhs) entrance scholarship without a separate application.
- Book IELTS 8-10 weeks before the application deadline, so a retake remains possible if you miss the 6.5 floor.
- Request Class 12 transcripts from your board 6-8 weeks before submitting, since CBSE and state boards can be slow in October-November.
- Draft your SOP program-specific, naming Durham (not Peterborough) and one or two specific courses or faculty.
- Apply for the Justin Chiu International or Moore Family scholarships by 15 February 2027, since Asia (including India) applicants qualify for up to CAD 15,000 (₹10.24 Lakhs) per year.
- Pay the tuition deposit within 15 days of receiving your offer to trigger the PAL and Letter of Acceptance for the study permit.
- Book biometrics slots early at VFS, as Delhi and Mumbai centres fill 3-4 weeks in advance around peak Fall intake.
Trent University Durham GTA balances an accessible acceptance rate with strong regional recognition in Ontario. Fall 2027 UG applications open 16 September 2026, so file your English test and transcripts now, and target the automatic entrance scholarship for early funding.

- Being a public university, there are lots of multicultural activities and event ongoing all year round.
- The life on campus is vivid and filled with nature.
- You will always see something happen - may not be your department may not be something you know of, but students are constantly engaged with the community.
Dislikes
- Just like any other university, Trent University isn’t good for all courses (well if one university had everything, we all would only want to go there), there has to be some drawbacks.
- Trent is majorly known for its Environmental Science, Forensic Science, Chemical Sciences, and Nursing programs, placements and internship opportunities are highly inclined towards these, and for students in other programs its relatively difficult to find so, being in a smaller city.
Dislikes
- I found very narrow opportunities of networking and growth.
- I would highly reckon Peterborough Campus for future students
