What Students Say?
Likes
- Quality of Education, Faculty (Very supportive and experienced in their fields), Ample amount of Co-op opportunities.
Dislikes
- Lecture timings are bit late in night (depends on Subject)
McMaster is ranked in the top 100 Universities globally, 4th in Canada and 2nd in Ontario after UofT. I chose this program as it is up to date with the industry requirements. After U of Ottawa, McMaster offers a Co-Op option which is helpful for students.
Course Curriculum
It's up to date, I must say in some of the subjects we were taught the software which has just been introduced in the market. If you opt in for Co-Op you would get industrial experience also.
Exams
- My Ielts Score L=8.5, R=6.5, W=6, S=7. Required Score is S=6.5 and L=6.5 - Grade 10= 88%; Grade 12 (GSEB)= 60% B.E Mechanical (Gujarat University)= 8.5 CGPA - Requirements: I had submitted SOP, CV and LoRs. Include why you chose McMaster over other universities. Yes, you need to finish the Kira Interview, it's an online interview which has predefined questions similar to your IELTS speaking.
Placement
Placements are pretty good as you have a degree from a renowned university. Companies like Linamar, Honda, and FGF come quite often for hiring. The average salary is around 35-40$ per hour.
Fees
One needs to finish 10 Units (Subjects) for their degree. Fees need to be paid per subject (unit). The per unit fee is 4800$ and then you need to pay insurance which is 800$ per year and 300$ for a bus pass per year. The total comes to around 50,000$ for the course.
Faculty
For grad, as there are fewer students enrolled, we would have 15-20 students per course. My professor from Total Sustainability Subject Dr Greg Zilberbrant left an impression on me because his teaching style was different we needed to discuss in each lecture on a particular problem. I think so it enhanced my team-building skills.
Campus Life
The campus is huge and well-equipped. You get wifi access all over campus. The library is good. For GYM if you're a Grad student you need to pay 30-35$ per month to access it. Other sports facilities are free just need your student id.
Hostel
There is a Dorm at the University but it is quite expensive. Everyone prefers to live as PG. One can connect in FB groups saying accommodation in hamilton and you can find one easily and costs around 500$ in sharing.
