I chose it because it was ranked good for computer science and my friends got accepted in it as well. The location and university fees were also within my budget I liked my time there. Going abroad and integrating with the culture helped me broaden my horizons and I made some amazing friends. The university was the same as many other universities in Canada Ontario to be honest. Especially due to the final two years being online, it really took away the university feel.
Course Curriculum
Since my university was one of the newer universities, I found my course to be more updated than some of the other universities. There were plenty of networking events where industry professionals were invited so I had the chance to get industrial exposure as well as programs to help get internships. There were research opportunities as well but I did not partake in those
Exams
I did A-levels in Math, Physics and Chemistry and scored A,A,B respectively. Gave IELTS and scored 8
Placement
We had career placements often and all the big name companies would attend as well as smaller companies. We had a university portal for exclusive job as well. Our internship coordinator would also get companies to agree to take in a set number of students from our university. Median salary would be about 50000. Was higher before the market crash. Placements were higher before the crash as well.
Internship
I wasn’t able to. I did receive an internship at my own university but it was cancelled a week before starting due to Covid budget cuts. I was to be part of the hardware support team
Fees
about 120000 Canadian dollars for tuition fees excluding accommodation
Scholarship
No I did not receive any scholarship. I believe for the scholarship you had to have the highest grade in your school or maintain GPA above 3.5 in university
Faculty
Since my university was a newer university, we did not have a huge student population which made the connection with professor better. I was able to interact and build connections with most of my professors.
Campus Life
I would say the events clubs etc were lacking. Mostly because small student position and my school was considered a commuter school. Most students lived off campus, usually different cities from the university. And then due to Covid, I spent the last two years of my program studying abroad so I did not have much opportunity to participate in events. Though after Covid, I can see the university doing more events from social media
Hostel
There were multiple accommodations. Some more expensive than others. I can’t comment on the accommodation much because it has drastically changed year to year. I paid about 7000 Canadian dollars for my first year on residence. After that I moved to a house where I was paying 575 CAD per month. It was a whole house with 4 rooms. Everyone paid the same amount and it was one person per room. Due to rent control, we locked that price because we didn’t move. Now we moved out and the place goes for 1000 CAD per room.
