- It is one of the top universities in the world. The location is great, we have access to the financial street of Toronto really close and the practicum at Rotman MMA gives a huge weight in your resume, we work with some of the top banks in Toronto. So after we graduate, we already have Canadian work experience which is of immense value.
- The exposure gained in terms of personal, professional, and academic growth is unparalleled. The practical knowledge that I have gained through tough assignments and teamwork is of immense value. We are initially trained to understand each other's working social styles to better understand our teammates and form synergy among the team members. In this way, you can understand how to deal with constructive criticism and build skills by learning from mistakes.
- Specifically, at Rotman MMA, we live and breathe analytics for an entire year. We get to learn every aspect of an Analytics problem in a consulting environment, from understanding and building a roadmap for a problem to implementing it and eventually writing a report in the form of a story that the data is trying to tell and presenting it to the audience in the simplest way possible. This process is done for different kinds of problems in different domains, from financial analytics to supply chain problems We understand the depth and breadth of these domains in detail and gain experience that can be translated and implemented in a real-world setting.
Dislikes
- Specifically at Rotman MMA, the course is very intense, you should forget social life for a while and work hard towards achieving the goal of learning and growing in all aspects of your life. The program services try really hard to lighten the mood by putting social events and activities in place, but the sheer amount of pressure with frequent assignments and in class activities puts your feet running. It's like running on a treadmill and there is no way to stop it for a year, and the only thing you can do to catch up is just maintain the speed and run with the program. The most important experience you gain here is dealing with pressure.
Required Exams for Admission
The experience was great, kind of tiring, to be honest, but I hope that it is all worth it. You will eventually be treated as a UofT graduate, which is of immense value and respect.
Course Curriculum
The syllabus is pretty relevant, there is a course called colloquia where they teach you cutting edge technologies that are hot in the market, and they keep on revising these courses every year. Industry experts come and teach these courses.
Faculty
University of Toronto is known for its distinguished faculty, who are recognized for their academic achievements and dedication to teaching. Faculty-to-student ratios vary by program, but the university strives to maintain a conducive learning environment that fosters engagement. Faculty members are generally approachable and supportive, often providing mentorship on academic and career matters.
Campus Life
The campus life is amazing, we have student lounges to play foosball or pool and just chill and hangout, but you don't get the time to do all of these. The Robarts library is the best library in the world.
Placement
Median salary - 80K , 80% placed atleast in 2 months. The Career services center offers career counseling, resume and cover letter workshops, interview preparation, networking events, and job fairs. It also provides online tools to help students identify and pursue their career paths.
Accommodation
Toronto's real estate market is messed up. Finding a place here is a nightmare. So, starting as early as possible is recommended.
Exams
Although it is not mandatory to submit a GRE or GMAT score to get admission into the program, they have a huge weight in your profile, Still, I know a lot of people who did not give these exams, but their profiles are so unique that they got in without any of these scores. Someone from life sciences, for example, has a unique profile for the cohort, so their uniqueness outweighs their lack of exam scores. Personally, I score 319 in GRE, 690 in GMAT and 7.5 in IELTS and I had to write these exams because I am a typical CSE guy from India and there will be a lot of people with this profile, and the only way to standout is with my exam scores. I needed to submit a SOP, two LORs and my resume. Create a story or organize your thoughts in your SOP describing why you want to join the program and what are the experiences that led you towards taking this decision. Make it emotional if possible, stories sell! I had one round of interview where I was asked some stat questions and some questions from my resume.
Fees
72,000 is the tuition fee, and if you live near college, it will cost you 1200–1500 dollars per month for living expenses, including rent and everything.
