What Students Say

- The reason I chose RMIT University was because I was aware of the course curriculum they had to offer along with the modern infrastructure they possessed. Some of my acquaintances who live in Australia also suggested that this was a good university to attend and as my undergraduate degree was focused in Financial markets I felt a Masters degree in Finance would be the way to go.
- The state of infrastructure is extremely good, coupled with state of the art technology. The faculty consist of distinguished professors from various fields. The amount of extra curricular activities that are hosted by the different clubs and societies make it a place to be.
Dislikes
- I have not been at the university for quite a long time. It has only been a semester since I started studying at this university. It would be very difficult for me to pinpoint what I dislike about the university but of the top of my head, providing avenues of internship opportunities even to first year students would seem a little progressive.
Required Exams for Admission
Studying at RMIT has been pretty good. The infrastructure, faculty and the networking opportunities that you get is really good. It all depends on where you want to study and work, but in my personal opinion, RMIT is one of the good universities in Victoria, if not in Australia.
Course Curriculum
The course syllabus covers all the topics needed to understand the dynamic landscape of the respective fields. I also had the chance to participate in an industry experience program which helped me foster connections with different people and work on a real life project.
Faculty
The faculty and support staff are super friendly and are always willing to solve your doubts. Since I have only been here for 1 semester, I do not have a specific professor or staff who has helped me going out of their way, but generally speaking they are quite friendly and easily approachable.
Campus Life
RMIT has a vibrant campus life, with all kinds of events happening around the year. There are a lot of clubs which have been formed and you can choose the right club for you and join them. The infrastructure is really advanced and the troubleshooting team is also well versed with the different types of problems one can face on campus.
Placement
As I am a first year student I have limited knowledge about the placement opportunities that RMIT has to offer. But one thing I know is you will get placement assistance if you ask for it.
Accommodation
There are a lot of student accommodation options which are available for students in the CBD. As you move on to the suburbs, there are generally one off houses with varying number of bedrooms. Depending on where you live, your average rent can vary between 600 to 1200 AUD per month or even upwards.
Exams
The admission requirements are IELTS and undergrad scores above a certain range. IELTS - 8 was my overall score. I was told to submit my SOP and 2 LORs for consideration. My LORs were prepared by my undergraduate professors and they followed a specific pattern of talking about my behavior, performance, involvement in college-related activities and overall view. My SOP was a little more detailed document stating my previous education, the reason for pursuing a degree in Australia, reason for pursuing my particular program and career prospects once I graduated from the course. The key point is to not break the flow of information, stick to the point as there is a word limit of just 300 words and most of the information has to be either omitted or condensed. No, I did not have any interview round or university specific tests to attend, for them to consider my application. It was primarily based on my undergrad scores and IELTS grade to receive a conditional offer.
Fees
The total tuition fees for a Master of Finance degree is around 70K AUD for 2 years. Annually, it is around 35K AUD.
Scholarship
I had received the Future Leaders Scholarship which entitled me to a 20% reduction for my tuition fees. This is a scholarship which is awarded to all international students who hold or plan to apply for a student visa. I did not have to give specific tests for this scholarship.
