What Students Say
Likes
- Students were from many countries.
- Small class size.
- Friendly and approachable Faculty and staff
Dislikes
- Doesn't feel like big university atmosphere.
- Limited transportation or housing options at certain locations
- The university I studied was removed last year branch in orlando, especially Florida 3 branches were removed because of living expenses.
Course Curriculum
10
- The M.A. in ITM programme at Webster University offers a mix of theoretical and practical learning, with a focus on real-world IT management applications. My batch had an average of around 20 students per class, with Indian students making up about 80%.
- Typically, there is only one class per day. The curriculum is moderately challenging, combining conceptual theory with practical assignments and case studies. The most positive aspect is the hands-on, industry-relevant learning, while the main drawback is that some topics can feel fast-paced due to the small number of classes and intensive schedule.
Admission Experience
- I think I applied to 4 colleges seattle university, university of north texas, university of south florida, and webster university.I received admission from Seattle university and webster university. For UNT and USF seats were finished for a particular course. I was not accepted because of much competition for that course; I applied a little late and some who had very good ielts and cgpa got selected.
- I chose webster because it is a private university, has a scope of many branches in usa and we can transfer to different campuses easily in case we didn't like that state or place. Admission process is simple, like first choosing the programme and applying online through the university website, submitting required documents such as academic transcripts, a passport copy and an IELTS score. Sometimes needed SOP, LOR, and resume. Once the application is reviewed, applicants receive an offer letter and scholarship as well based on cgpa. When accepting an offer, we have to pay a deposit, and then they will issue an I-20 to apply for a student visa. Eligibility criteria I think, are IELTS and duolingo exams. For ielts minimum 6.0 has to be. Overall, the admission experience was good; I didn't face any challenges, and it was a smooth process.
- I applied for the Spring 2023 intake, which started on January 8, 2023. My decision was influenced by the start date, course availability, application deadlines, and my personal schedule. There were orientation and other programmes, so I had to arrive before that. The admission process was quick, taking about two weeks from application submission to acceptance, after which I paid the tuition deposit to secure my seat.
Faculty
8
- Our classroom has a low faculty-to-student ratio, which allows for personalised attention and good interaction in class. The faculty use a mix of lectures, case studies, ppt and practical projects, providing knowledge that is generally sufficient to prepare students for industry roles.
- Only a few faculty members assist students with part-time or full-time job opportunities through their personal networks. I particularly admire faculty who are industry-experienced and approachable, as they stand out for their ability to explain complex concepts clearly and provide practical information.
Campus Life
4
- Webster University has multiple campuses worldwide, including St Louis, Chesterfield, Texas (San Antonio), Atlanta (Georgia), Leiden (Netherlands), Geneva (Switzerland), Vienna (Austria), London (UK), and several in Asia. The campus offers libraries, sports facilities, fitness centres, and medical services.
- Major events include Cultural Fest, International Week, Spring Fling, and Homecoming, and popular clubs are student government, cultural clubs, tech clubs, and community service groups. Students can participate in sports, cultural performances, workshops, and volunteer programmes, making campus life engaging and well-rounded.
Part Time Jobs
- For our branch, there were no on-campus part-time jobs available. I heard that at the main St. Louis campus, on-campus positions like TA, RA, or departmental assistant are highly competitive, so securing them can be medium to difficult. Pay for such positions varies depending on the role, but typical on-campus jobs usually offer hourly wages based on university guidelines, with a maximum of 20 hours per week for student workers.
- Most Indian students at Webster University find it difficult to work part-time, and many prefer helping family members or staying with them instead. Part-time opportunities are limited, and securing a job can be challenging. The usual process involves searching for openings, submitting applications or resumes, and attending interviews, but due to competition and limited availability, few students manage to earn regularly.
Placement
6
- It was difficult for us, as the job market was tough at the time. Many students secured full-time roles through internships or by applying online, by having references through their relatives.
- The average salary was around 60,000 USD, with some students taking contract jobs. We did not have placement support from the college, so most of us had to rely on our own efforts and networks.
Accommodation
Off Campus
6
- I opted for off-campus accommodation, which I found through online friends. The monthly rent was around $600, and basic facilities were included. The college is about 6 miles away, so we usually travel together by bus or cab.
- Most Indian students also stay off-campus, typically farther from the university. A key recommendation for future students is to connect with current students online early to find reliable housing and share commuting options.
Exams
- For admission to Webster University’s M.A. in ITM, international students typically need English proficiency tests like IELTS, Duolingo or TOEFL. Standardised tests like the GMAT or GRE are generally not required for this programme.
- Necessary documents include a Statement of Purpose (SOP), Letters of Recommendation (LOR), academic transcripts, and a CV/resume. An interview is usually not required for this programme; admission is primarily based on the submitted documents and academic qualifications.
Fees
- For the first semester it was covered in deposit, where we have to pay $6500 later next semester we have to pay based on the electives. 1 credit is $775 so we have to take 36 credits, which is 775 × 36 = $27900, And montly expenses were around 600$ with utilities and food separate based on what you eat. For transportation-wise variety like Sunrail is there, and bus is also there. Bus is cheap: $2.
Scholarship
- Most of the people who enrolled either received a 15% or 20% scholarship. It was a limited number of scholarships for graduate students. Almost everyone who had a good GPA, ielts score received a scholarship.
- It is also based on whose consulting firm you are applying to university with and if it is when you tie up with it or not. There is no other financial aid; only the starting while application is the only scholarship which people receive.
