  • Students receive industrial exposure through projects, internships, and collaborations with tech companies; some research opportunities are also available.
  • Classes are usually 2–3 per day, each lasting 2-4 hours; timings are typically morning to early evening.
  • The average class size is 20–35 students, allowing good interaction with professors.

Admission Experience

  • I chose this university because of its program, MSIS which is a 16 months course you can extend. Data, Development, and Design Concentrated courses.

Faculty

10

  • The University of Utah has a low student-to-faculty ratio 17/1, ensuring good interaction with professors. MSIS comes under business school , here the class rooms are highly equiped. Faculty are highly knowledgeable, approachable, and supportive, guidance for academics, research, and career opportunities. Professors in the MSIS program are known for their good in data analytics, IT management, and cybersecurity,Design, Development and many maintain strong industry connections.

Campus Life

10

  • Campus Life & Facilities:
    • It (Uofu) has a beautiful main campus with modern classrooms, libraries, and research facilities. Students can join over 600 clubs and participate in events like Redfest and Crimson Nights. Sports and outdoor activities include basketball, skiing, and hiking.
    • Academics & Research:
    • The MSIS programme is industry-relevant, offering hands-on projects and collaboration opportunities. Class sizes are small, and students have access to state-of-the-art labs, research centres, and the Marriott Library for study and research.
    • CS programmes are also really good.

Part Time Jobs

  • Part-Time Opportunities: Students can work on-campus as Teaching Assistants (TA), Research Assistants (RA), or Departmental Assistants (DA), and also take off-campus jobs like internships or part-time tech roles. Hourly pay usually ranges from $15–$25/hour depending on the role. To apply, students typically submit applications through the university portal, department announcements, or networking. Maximum work hours for international students is 20 hours per week during semesters. Securing on-campus jobs is moderately competitive, and many students (~30–40%) are able to get TA/RA/DA positions depending on department needs.

  • Around 80–85% of MSIS graduates secure full-time employment within 6 months. The average starting salary ranges from $75,000 to $95,000 per year. Students find jobs through campus recruitment, internships, networking events, career fairs, and online portals like LinkedIn and Handshake. CS students will get 70,000-15,000.
