Course Curriculum

6

  • Cleveland State University (CSU) offers a balanced mix of theoretical and practical learning. Classes are typically 60-90 minutes, with an average size of 23 students. The curriculum is rigorous but engaging, with strong industry ties. The commuter campus limits social life, and parking can be challenging. CSU has a significant Indian student presence across programs.

Admission Experience

  • Applied to UMASS Boston; Admitted
  • CSU Ohio; Shortlisted
  • Northeastern University Boston; Admitted
  • University of Dayton; Admitted
  • ASU Arizona; Admitted
  • University of Arlington; Admitted
  • I was admitted to all the universities that I applied to, out of which I chose CSU Ohio to pursue my Masters, as it was affordable, the cost of living for the state and the culture was feasible to me.
  • Application submission and acceptance rate to this university were quite easy.
  • Admission fee to fill out the admission form was $40, which is eventually low as compared to other universities.
  • Transcripts Submission was easy, like when we first visit the university inperson we can submit it physically instead of sending it via courier which saves a lot of money.
  • The approval and acceptance of visa ratio is high as it is a public university.
  • The English requirement for Masters students is only IELTS 6.0, no less than 5.5 in each section; the same goes with Undergrad.
  • NO GRE/GMAT/SAT required. Wide range of program offerings too.
  • I applied to the Fall 23 session; it was April. I remember that I applied and received my offer letter in May 23. I received my admission offer letter within thirty days of my application. The acceptance ratio is 80% according to the degree that a student wants to pursue. Certainly the admission process is smooth without too many documents and an orderly, timely reply.

Faculty

6

  • CSU has a 16:1 student-to-faculty ratio, ensuring strong faculty interaction. Teaching blends theory with hands-on learning, with 3,000+ internships yearly. Professors assist with job placements via networks and CSU’s career services. 88% of faculty hold top degrees, making CSU’s education practical and career-focused.CSU faculty are dedicated to student success, offering mentorship, industry insights, and personalized guidance to help students excel in their careers.

Campus Life

6

  • CSU's vibrant campus life includes over 200 student organizations, such as the Indian Student Organization, which celebrates Indian culture through music, dance, and festivals. Facilities feature a 110,000-square-foot Recreation Center with modern fitness amenities. Major events include Homecoming and various cultural festivals. CSU also hosts career fairs, networking events, and hackathons, providing students with academic, professional, and social engagement opportunities.

Part Time Jobs

  • CSU offers TA, RA, and DA roles, which are competitive and pay around $4,200 per term. On-campus jobs in libraries, offices, and eLearning pay $10-$15/hr. Students can work up to 20 hours per week. Jobs are competitive, so applying early via Handshake and using CSU’s career services improves chances. Many students also find off-campus jobs in retail and dining.
  • So Students typically get some small kind of jobs on campus in starting phase when they land and secure a job, it starts from 10$ an hour to 14$ depends upon the state and location. In our location this is the minimum pay rate. It is quite difficult for students to secure an on campus job without reference as their is limited opportunities available. Usually reference works then they get offer letter which they submit to the Int. Dept and they approve it, then comes the SSN application process.

Placement

6

  • The percentage to secure a job ASAP after completion of the degree and securing a job within 6 months as per the current situation of the market is only 10% according to me, Average salary range in IT can range between 70000$ to 120000$ depending on the state and culture.
  • Students have to work hard to find a job through various ways wither applying online, attending job/career fairs, getting references etc.
  • Placements experiences of my batchmates and my seniors are facing a back lash of being unemployed.

Accommodation

Off Campus
6

  • I opted for off-campus housing near Cleveland State University (CSU). I found my accommodation through the CSU Housing Marketplace, which lists various off-campus options.
  • Monthly rent varies by location and amenities; for instance, Reserve Square offers units starting at $918.
  • Challenges included securing a lease without a U.S. co-signer and understanding local lease agreements. I recommend starting your search early and utilising CSU's housing resources. Many Indian students prefer staying at Reserve Square, which is approximately a 10-minute walk from campus.

Exams

  • Exams required for admission are just IELTS, TOEFL, and Duolingo. GMAT/GRE/SAT is waived off in most of the cases. Students just need to fulfil their English requirement in order to receive admission letters. There was no interview throughout the application process. Statement of Purpose and Letter of Recommendations are mostly required for all the students.

Fees

  • Per Credit fee: $1300
  • First sem On campus housing: $4000 ( they unmandate it now)
  • First Sem Dining: 1200$ (4 meals a week)
  • Health Insurance: 2400$ tri semester
  • Monthly Expenses: Living off campus: $500 rent
  • Food and Groceries: 300$
  • Transportation- $95/month
  • Regular Expenses: 100-200$
  • There's other expenses, which depend on the student's personal and professional choices.

Scholarship

  • 1000$ throughout 2 years of study.
  • On average, students receive the same amount and roughly 99% receive it.
  • All of my batchmates received the same scholarship but some of them 1% didn't due to their consultancy tie-up. If you do well in studies, students tend to achieve scholarship grants as financial aid too, which is helpful to have their tuition fee reimbursed.
