- I moved to the US with my family at a very odd time (November) as college admission closed, and I didn't want to loose a year, I joined Bellevue college with the aim to transfer to university of Washington-Seattle in spring 2024 with junior standing
It's a nice place where you can get credits for less money than a university. Campus life isn't extravagant, but you will find your tribe.
Course Curriculum
The curriculum for the first 2 years of college is very similar to 11th and 12th science stream (I'm doing prerequisites for the computer science program at UW SEATTLE).
Faculty
Faculty to student ratio is around 1:20, almost like a classroom.
Campus Life
There are many career building clubs which help you grow skills, lots of facilities to better your resume. We have people dedicated to helping us write our transfer sop with inside information on how admissions work. I am a part of the rocketry club, as the president and a member of the computer programming club. We also have a chapter of the phi theta kappa honor society. Library has 24/7 help from librarians online, but is open only from 8am to 5 pm. Wifi strength is good throughout campus. Campus doesn't have much life, most students come here to finish credits for less money before finishing their bachelor's at a university because of how easy it is to transfer thanks to state college agreements.
Placement
Loads of opportunities for employment, students who decide to finish their bachelor's here ( there is a BS IN Computer science, one in cybersecurity as well) get placed in FAANG companies. Amazon donated $1M to the CS department a couple years ago.
Accommodation
I live with my parents as we moved here together, we rent an apartment in a good school district for my younger sister.
Exams
No admission requirements, it's a community college. I had to fill out an application with mostly demographic data. No application fee. No SOP/ CV or LOR. It is a community college with near 100% acceptance.
Fees
As a non resident, about 12k a year. For residents, about 4k.
Scholarship
Yes. I got a BC foundation scholar ship of 1,500 dollars and I applied to it by writing multiple short answer questions (abt 700 words) regarding my field of interest and why I needed the scholarship. I also had to give my transcripts.
