What Students Say
Likes
- I liked the Library and cafeteria for quick snacks and coffee; they had a loyalty system in place.
Dislikes
- Disliked the distance to reach campus from the town centre (Galashiels) - had to walk a little over a mile or choose taxis at 5-8 pounds.
After lot of research on affordability in terms of fees, living expenses in the city etc. I wanted to study in a English speaking country to easily find partime jobs to manage my living expenses as well. Overall I would rate my experience 7/10.
Course Curriculum
Quite broad as it was a research-based study. We had multiple visits to textile mills and other industries until Covid hit.
Faculty
The student-faculty ratio would be 6:1, ensuring good mentorship. The faculty were very approachable and helpful.Dr Lisa was specifically resourceful and I loved her sessions and labs. It was also quite interactive in nature.
Campus Life
Masters might not be the centre of co-curricular activities - it will depend on how well you make time and participate in events. The campus is very lively and the infrastructure is excellent.
Placement
They do not have placement drives as Indian colleges. You have a graduate employment cell which will help you with refining your CVs and finding your internships - but ultimately you need to be proactive and meet up with your mentors, book sessions and use these services.
Accommodation
I chose to rent a flat outside of university student accommodation as they were cheaper - cost me 300 pounds per month. It was an independent room in a 5BHK apartment.
Exams
- I required a portfolio submission - which is imperative for design courses - 10th - 10.0 CBSE; 12th - 93% CBSE; Undergrad - 7.0 NIFT Bangalore - SoP, LoR, CV and a Research Proposal was required. Focus on how a degree at their university will benefit you in the long term and go with showcase you have some goals to achieve.
Fees
It was close 13 L - INR
