What Students Say?
Likes
- The university considered the needs and wants of students.
- The diverse environment enabled me to connect with individuals from all corners of the world.
Dislikes
- Sometimes information on the digital learning portal would not suffice for students.
- Certain lecture slides did not provide enough information and only had pictures in it.
Plymouth located in the far south-west of the United Kingdom with its treasured history and landscape attracted me as a student as the peaceful environment would allow me to achieve both academic and personal goals. The university has some amazing scholarship opportunities and I was given the International Postgraduate Platinum Scholarship which reduced my tuition fee to a great extent. My overall experience was quite good as I made new friends, gained knowledge on new topics and participated in social events and activities.
Course Curriculum
The course syllabus was very relevant and updated, tuned to the changing scenario of the ever-evolving field of Psychology. The assessments were application-oriented and the research projects included both quantitative and qualitative research. My dissertation on emotional valence and working memory performance expanded my understanding of human cognition and how it processes emotional stimuli in certain contexts. The knowledge and skills I gathered by completing the course tasks and assessments would surely help me in my future endeavours in countless ways.
Exams
- The admission requirements included a Bachelor's degree in a relevant subject area, a personal statement, and academic references. I did not have to take IELTS as my ISC English language marks/grades fulfilled the language requirement criterion given by the university. - ICSE - 83%; iSC - 93.25%; Amity University - 8.49 CGPA - Requirements: I had to submit an SOP, resume and two academic references for the course. The SOP along with the academic references was submitted first. And then after selection, I had to submit an updated resume.
Placement
There is a separate portal for students interested in working after course completion. There are also other support groups for international students aiding them in their post-study work journey and answering their doubts and concerns.
Fees
It was approximately 15,000 pounds at that time. However, now it has become 17,600 pounds.
Faculty
The faculty was very supportive and easily approachable. My supervisor, Dr Sean James Fallon, and my mentor, Dr Sonja Heintz provided me with unwavering support and invaluable guidance throughout my master's journey. Dr. Fallon's invaluable insights, feedback, and encouragement have upgraded my research skills. Dr. Heintz's mentorship and dedication have been truly inspiring.
Campus Life
There are several societies and clubs such as the Biomedical Club, Badminton Club and the Geek Society enriching the experience of international students and providing them with opportunities to connect with people from all walks of life. The huge library is a walk-in paradise for book lovers. There are study rooms in the library for students. WIFI is also freely available for students. The exceptional infrastructure, research resources and social events make it a great university!
Hostel
I opted for private accommodation. There were single rooms with a common kitchen and dining area. I was sharing the flat with 4 other people. However, it is best to go for university accommodation as they strictly adhere to the rules mentioned in the contract (unlike private student halls) facilitating smooth stay for international students.
