What Students Say
Likes
- Liked the courses that were offered at the university and it affordability in comparison to other options. Stable economy of the Netherlands and welcoming nature of the goverment
- Beyond academics, the campus itself was a hub of excitement and energy. The beautifully landscaped grounds provided a picturesque backdrop for my daily walks between classes, and the state-of-the-art facilities, such as the library, laboratories, and recreational centers, were always bustling with activity. Whether it was attending engaging lectures, participating in lively debates, or engaging in extracurricular activities, there was never a dull moment.
Dislikes
- Tution fee could be unjustifiably extra sometimes. In general one can question how much one can learn online and how much extra educational value is being added by the university courses.
Required Exams for Admission
I do miss being on the campus and being among my fellow students. My positive experience are limited to meeting nice people in general. In terms of educational value. Dutch education system encourage you to learn by making your own mistakes so you have to do a lot of self study although teachers are always there to help you but you are expected to manage most of it yourself. In the light of emerging online university and free educational material one can argue what extra is provided by the university apart from creating an ecosystem but as an International student you have to be careful about how expensive it can be for you.
Course Curriculum
I feel if you can allow yourself to be disciplined you can learn things by online resources, So if you don't want to do research with some particular lab or professor and don't want the job market exposure of the EU. You should not pursuit it.
Faculty
I don't remember the faculty to student ratio because it varied a lot in different courses, but on average every lecture had 30-70 student. Teachers were really friendly and open to talk. Max Hinne was my thesis supervisor and I really enjoyed my first time writing thesis along with his help. I was also inspired by Marcel van Gerven.
Campus Life
It was the best part of my masters. Nijmegen can be called a student town because students are the life of it. There are options to clubbing and events in Nijmegen however Amsterdam is only 1.5 hours away so if you are a party animal plenty of things to do. However as an international student you should be careful of you expenses since these things can disturb your budget
Placement
Almost everyone gets a job within couple of months of graduation from my course.
Accommodation
There are many student housing in the Nijmegen town itself. If you ask international office they give priority to the students who are from outside of Europe because it is hard to find place as non EU, especially if you are a male. They told me that I would only get help for the first year accommodation but when I asked they helped me for the second year as well.
Exams
TOEFL: 96/120 I submitted my statement of purpose, Letters of recommendation from my managers and HODs of the college. I also submitted my undergrad transcript.
Fees
20000 Euros approx. but it has increased now.
