The working culture here is super relaxed. Saturday and sundays are completly work free. Proffessors and group leader are also very cooperative. I feel very much comfortable in implimenting my own ideas in to research which I find best part of me being here.

Course Curriculum

9

Here in Germany, there is least courses that you need to attend. you start research from the day 1 actually. Its awesome. They have so nice collabortion even witht he industries personal.

Faculty

8

We have 1 prof named Dieter neher who was recently the world's highest cited researcher. He has 2 subgroups which is handled by group leaders. i am in perovskite subgroup led by Dr. Felix lang and Dr. Martin stolterfoht. Martin is the one you have left an incredeble impact on me. he is an awesome professor now in Hongkong CUHK.

Campus Life

10

University sports is what I use the most. Its cheap and really accesible. Its a huge university with 3 campuses so they have almost everything for extracurriculam activities. They have high tech labs. We have LAN connections in our office computers, we can use either university wifi or eduroam.

Placement

10

After PhD its easy to get a job through the collaborations. So I would say placement is 100 percent.

Accommodation

I got my wife here. I have rented a private apartment that cost 1000 euros including heating, wifi, internet electricity.

Exams

Requirements: MS in relevent subject, prior experience in the researh field and semiconductor physics knowledge. No I have not given any language proficiency test. . I was asked to submit CV and SOP. Interview was mostly about my master thesis project. I was asked to present the findings and then there was QandA session about project and then basic physics and semiconductor physics. My advice is to clearly mention how your skills can be benificial for them. Also do the same in the interview. Key points I mentioned in my CV are - My academic journey. - My research project and skills gained. - Useful skills for the project I am applying for - My motivation

Fees

there is no tution fees. But if you want to be enrolled as a student they you need to pay 116 euros per semester. With this you can enjoy all the benifits of a student.

Scholarship

Here in Germany they consider PhD as a job so we get proper emplyment but the catch is, we do not get 100% of the amount, we get either 50%, 67% or 75% depending on project. Note this is before taxes. Right now I am in third year of PhD and I get 2000 euros / month after taxes
