Remarks
The admission process was smooth and required just the marks of 10th and 12th, which should be more than 50%. No entrance exam for B.Sc. Biotechnology. They had an organised committee to carry out the procedure smoothly.
Course Curriculum Overview
RnD is a field that can change the whole nation and has the potential for tremendous development. Benefitting not just an individual, but the whole world through breakthrough research. The real gems of the whole journey of 3 years are the professors. They are truly qualified, knowledgeable, approachable and motivated in all aspects. All professors have completed their PhD and post doctorates from reputed Institutions in India and abroad. No compromise on teaching. The course curriculum is well set up to clear the basic and applied level of concepts in biotechnology. Though it doesn't make the student's industry ready, because Biotechnology is a vast domain and a bachelor's degree in Biotechnology is not sufficient to have a strong grip on the subject. Going up for M.Sc. would be a wise choice to be industry ready. The semester exams are easy to crack, the difficulty level is low. Exams are conducted as 2 assessments and 1 end semester exam, with weightage on internals and practicals.
Placement Experience
Students are given the option to choose for campus placements and training from the last year. Only a few companies visited the Biotechnology department (3-4), including Life Cell, Zifo Rnd, Byjus etc. The highest package offered was 10 LPA and the average package was 4 LPA. I have also got placed through the campus placement procedure.
Fees and Financial Aid
Only 2 out of 58 in my class were placed through campus placement (thankfully I was one of them). A few companies visited for B.Sc. Biotechnology. The highest package offered was 4.1LPA for the course of B.Sc. Biotechnology. The lowest package was 2 LPA. The top recruiters were Life Cell, Zifo RnD etc. There were no internships provided by the college, except for a few summer trainings (for which they took fees from students). The top roles offered by companies through placement were associate analyst and COVID lab technician. The total cost to study is approximately 2 lakhs (3 years). There are university and government scholarships for B.Tech. students who excel in academics. No university scholarships for B.Sc. students.
Campus Life
There are numerous fests conducted by the college throughout the year. these include department, cultural, technical, food and carnival fests. Every department conducts their own events apart from the main university events like creshunt, orion etc. these are always lively and fun providing a lot of opportunities to the talents present across the university. The main library is huge, with one computer library as well. Lots of books, magazines and journals are available. However, there are no fictional books. Everything is related to academics only. Also, there is a library in every department with books and journals related to that department only. Classrooms are big and have sufficient seatings, light and aeration; projectors and screens. The whole campus is wifi enabled. There's a sports department as well, with amenities and equipment for football, cricket, volleyball, basketball, carrom etc. Social groups are also present- literary, rotary, dance, music, NSS, art, drama etc.
