Dr. C.N. Rubha has been working as the Principal of Dr. R. V. Arts and Science College, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. She has done M.Com, M.Phil, PGDCA and PhD in E-Banking as part of her academics. She has 19 years of experience in education and industry and 2 years of experience as Principal. She is a specialized professional in the domain of marketing. She has been a part of many conferences and seminars as a resource person and has also presented over 35 papers in national and international journals.

What do you see as your college’s greatest strengths?

Our college was established in the year 2006 by our visionary founder, the Sevarathna Dr. R. Venkatesalu Naidu to impart quality education to all through well-established infrastructure. And as our college is located at the outskirts of Coimbatore, we are mostly approached by the students from rural backgrounds. Every year 15+ students are admitted to college with full fee concessions. We are consistently listed in the NIRF, India Today and all the other recognizing platforms and also have an amazing team of motivated faculty members with great experience and exposure. All of these together make us strong and resilient.

How is your college more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?

"We celebrate each festival in college and offer special learning programs to needy students"

Our college provides a warm and friendly environment to all students irrespective of their background in order to transform them into great personalities. We strictly follow the Anti-discriminatory and Anti Ragging policies to have a sociable atmosphere inside the college and also offer equal learning opportunities to students. Apart from this, special training programmes, bridge courses and remedial classes are also arranged by us to help slow learners and make every student more confident. Also, for girls we have established a Women Empowerment Cell in our college so that they can freely experiment with their innovative ideas. Lastly, we celebrate all important days and festivals to promote harmony among everyone. 

What are some plans that you are currently designing for students?

"We are planning to establish more students communities in college"

We have successfully adopted a number of student clubs and communities where students organize events and functions on their own. These events have helped our students in so many ways, like enhancing their leadership qualities and social skills and have also given them a perfect platform to discuss, debate, share their ideas and have lastly enforced the spirit of team building between students. As we have closely observed the outcome of these student communities and events, we are planning to establish more student clubs by collaborating with the students only.

What makes your college unique in comparison to others?

We are situated near the town temple Karamadai and the greenery surrounding 30 acres of college land provides an amazing natural and hygienic environment. We have motivated faculties who support, engage and connect with students and guide them in their studies and also help them to face challenges and downfalls, not only in academics but as a whole in society with more courage and confidence. In addition to this, Yoga classes are provided by us to strengthen students' physical and mental health. We also have a Women Empowerment Cell and Entrepreneurial Cell in college which collaborates with industries on a regular basis to provide best industrial exposure and opportunities to students.

What do you think should be the College’s top priority over the next 10 years?

"It is to upgrade our college infrastructure, teaching methodologies and research culture"

Our priority for the upcoming years is to strengthen our infrastructure and educational practices by collaborating with reputed organizations and institutions to bridge the gaps between students' skills and industry expectations. We also want to create a good research culture in college that promotes professional growth of students and teachers and benefits industry and society as a whole. All in all, we want to provide exceptional opportunities to our students to transform them into the best professionals and give them a rich and holistic life.

How do you bring in a practical and industry oriented approach towards subjects?

"By organizing professional visits and offering certification courses to students"

Our college has signed MoUs with reputed companies to provide skill-based training programs and best internship opportunities to our students with the support of industry experts, placement training professionals and leaders. These training helps our students to interact directly with industry people directly and learn new skills. We also offer certification courses to students based on industrial needs and also arrange Industrial visits whenever required. In addition to this, our Placement Cell and faculty members constantly work to upgrade their knowledge so that they can fulfill the current expectations of industries.

How does your college prepare students for placements?

"They are trained through events like mock interviews, GD and personality development trainings"

We prepare our students in a unique way, which not only helps them to secure a job but a desired job of their own choice and interest. Also we first identify the talents of each student and then provide them appropriate career opportunities, because not everyone is made for every job. And to train our students for the interview process and corporate sector, we do have a dedicated Placement Cell and we have also collaborated with esteemed placement training agencies. Our placement cell and these agencies work together to organize group discussion, demo interviews and rigorous training programs for strengthening Soft Skills, Aptitude and Reasoning Skills of students. 

Which extracurricular activities are organized in your college to enhance the skills of students?

We believe in educating our students beyond curriculum and books, because co-curricular activities are very important to ensure their overall growth. Hence our college regularly organizes events and activities like community events, acts, drama, sports games and dance shows. This gives a perfect platform to students to showcase their hidden talents. And our students also participate in university level competitions, State and National level sports tournaments and inter-college meets and competitions. Again, this gives a space to students to meet and interact with students of other institutions and share their ideas and views.

How does your college enhance the faculty skills and prepare them as per industry standards?

"They are trained through Faculty Development and Professional Development Programs"

Our college has motivated and enthusiastic faculties and we promote the ambiance of research in our college. And Faculty Development Programs are organized periodically by the college to upskill them. Also we encourage them to write research papers and books and publish the same in national and international journals, to participate in workshops and Professional Development programmes organized by Infosys and ICT to upgrade their teaching methodologies as per current industrial requirements. Lastly, financial assistance is provided by us to them to publish research papers.

I would suggest to my dear students and youths of our society to make best use of their time and every opportunity that comes their way, because the experience they will get throughout the journey will be unbeatable and amazing. Also, keep learning new skills and keep upgrading yourself, as it's mandatory with the ever changing digital world. Next I would suggest they set realistic goals for themselves and give their full efforts to achieve them. Always find some time to read as this will develop a more rational thinking ability in you.
